The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) will reopen for a limited period from May 29, 2017 to February 23, 2018. The QIIP allows international investors with a minimum net worth $1.6 million to obtain Canadian permanent residence by investing $800,000 CAD for five years.
Under the 2017/2018 application period, Quebec will accept a maximum of 1,900 applications including a maximum of 1,330 from China, Hong Kong and Macao and the remaining 570 applications to be filled from elsewhere. These quotas and the limited application period do not apply to applicants who can demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level of the French language.
The QIIP is Canada’s only passive investor immigration program. The program has attractive features that differ from the other provincial immigration programs offered in Canada, and aims to offers its applicants various advantages. Primarily, there is no probationary or conditional stage, and a successful application directly leads to Canadian permanent resident visa for the applicant and their dependents.
